Sivasagar DC inspects deplorable roads

SIVASAGAR, May 25: Taking serious note of the poor condition of certain main roads in Sivasagar town, Deputy Commissioner of Sivasagar Pallav Gopal Jha inspected the roads recently. The roads that were visited by the deputy commissioner include Khijnoor Ali Road (Ward No. 5), LKB Road (Ward No. 7), PD Chaliha Road, Amulapatty (Ward No.9), MG Road, Melachakar (Ward No. 10), TP Chaliha Road, Melachakar, (Ward No. 10), Ganga Gobind Phukan Road, Phukan Nagar, (Ward No. 10), BN Kakoty Road, Phukan Nagar, (Ward No.10), Purana Amulapatty Na-ali Road, (Ward No 11 & 14) and Dhonekhona Road, Phukan Nagar (Ward No. 10).

The people of these areas had put repeated complaints to concerned authorities to repair the roads and even staged blockade programmes several times, but no action was taken in this regard. The deputy commissioner was informed about the deplorable condition of the roads during his felicitation held at Sivasagar Natya Mandir after joining the district as the deputy commissioner. Saurav Chaliha, noted social worker and sports organizer took the initiative, in greater interest of the people of these areas and apprised the deputy commissioner. Responding to the call for urgent need for good road connectivity, DC Jha, accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Nawab Al Azhar Ali and officials of PWD (Roads) and Sivasagar Municipal Board inspected the roads. The DC also interacted with the locals during the visit and assured that the issue will be given top priority. Later, the DC visited the Chau-Lung Syukafa Indoor Stadium and motivated the budding shuttlers with his inspirational speech. He also praised the stadium management committee for their efforts in maintaining the stadium and providing the facilities.
