Atul Bora reiterates anti-Bill stand

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, May 27: Reiterating his opposition to the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, Dispur BJP legislator Atul Bora on Sunday has again dared to go against the will of the ruling party. It was speculated that in the recent office bearers' meeting of the State BJP, the party legislators were refrained from making contradicting statement on the Bill. However, sharply invalidating the party meeting and its decision, Bora again appeared quite vocal against the Bill. He stressed that the BJP came to power in Dispur by raising Jati-Mati-Bheti slogan , projecting themselves as the protector of the people of Assam. If the Centre will pass the Bill in the Parliament, the people of the State will resist the imposition. Apparently, the BJP will lose its own bheti in Assam, Bora observed. Reminding his earlier letter written to the Chief Minister against the Bill, Bora insisted on Sonowal taking a bold step following the path laid out by his Meghalaya counterpart Conrad K Sangma, who unequivocally opposed the Bill.
