Diphu, May 27: As part of the Himalayan Clean-up campaign initiated by Integrated Mountain Initiative and Zero-waste Himalayan across the 12 mountain stages of India, a cleanliness drive was organized at Diphu Railway Station on Saturday as well as other places of the town. “In keeping with the World Environment Day, 2018 theme of ‘Beat plastic pollution’, this campaign will provide key insights into how much of the trash collected is plastic. More than 900 organizations are cooperating in the Himalayan clean-up campaign,” said Sabin Rongpipi, co-founder. Instead of depending on others to start cleanliness drive, people themselves should come forward to ensure that hygiene is maintained around their homes or shops so that diseases can be prevented said, Mridul Mahanta, Karbi Anglong DC.
