Delhi proposes 50% profit cap on medicines at hospitals

New Delhi, May 28: The profit per cent on medicines, consumables at city private hospitals and nursing homes has been proposed to be capped at 50 in a draft advisory, Health Minister Satyendar Jain said here on Monday. Addressing the media, Jain said the draft advisory would now be put in the public domain for objections and suggestions for 30 days. According to the draft advisory, the price of medicines and consumables could be a maximum of 50 per cent more than the purchase price, or it could be the MRP, whichever is lower. In December, the Delhi government formed a nine-member committee to put a cap on the profit on medicines and consumables in private hospitals and nursing homes. (IANS)
