Sohra to host Marathon on August 25

GUWAHAI, May 28: The Rotary Club of Shillong will organize the Rotary Sohra Marathon at picturesque Sohra on August 25. Around 3000 runners from different parts of the country including a few from Kenya are expected to participate in the competition.

Addressing a media gathering the Chairman of Rotary Sohra Marathon Committee Kailash Varma said that the race would be held in seven age categories. The competition will consist of Full Marathon (42kms), Half Marathon (21kms), 10kms run and 5kms fun runs.

“We are also trying to make a special record this time. It would be the first marathon which would be held in the wettest place in the world. Limca Book of Records has agreed to adjudicate the Marathon,” said Varma.

To increase the number of participants organizer has decided to hold a lucky draw among the participants. Top two prizes will be a car and a Motor Cycle.

The media briefing was also attended by Race Director James Perry and Project Director Elangbam K Singh.
