GOLAGHAT, May 29: The activists of All Assam Tai Ahom Students’ Union (AATASU) and Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Parishad (AJYP) Golaghat district committee burnt the effigy of Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in Golaghat town on Tuesday to protest against fuel price hike. The activists raised various slogans against the Union government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Earlier, they carried the effigies of Dharmendra Pradhan and BJP president Amit Shah on a cart and burnt them at the Sukapha point of Golaghat town.

Taking part in the protest, Golaghat ATASU working president Krishna Baruah and Golaghat AJYP secretary Nipon Gogoi condemned the BJP government for failing to control diesel and petrol price hike. Even the prices of essential commodities were increasing day-by-day. They said that the BJP government came to power by assuring people to control price hike of essential commodities but the government had done nothing in this regard so far. They warned that if the BJP government did not control price hike in due time, they would launch massive agitation in the days to come.
