GUWAHATI, May 29: The distinguished socio-cultural organization of the state, Satsaree with its newly formed executive body is drawing up a list of measures that it would undertake during the period of its tenure. While talking to The Sentinel, the founder president of Satsaree highlighted that the organization will focus on issues related to women empowerment in the next five years.
Baruah said that breast cancer and cervical cancer among women is on the rise. “We have planned a series of free awareness camp for women on breast cancer and cervical cancer from June 3 onwards.” Stating that in many cases of humiliation and harassment, women get stuck with a situation of nowhere, Baruah said that Satsaree will form a group that will initiate steps in police stations for such helpless women victims.
Baruah further shared that Satsaree will set up a library at Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden. Among them a workshop on Satriya Sangeet and another on Assamese cuisines will be held in the city, she said. Satsaree has also decided to undertake a study mission on preservation of the historical sites of Assam and initiate awareness programmes in respect of protection and preservation of the same.
