530th birth anniversary  of Madhavdeva observed

LAKHIMPUR, May 30: The 530th birth anniversary of Mahapurush Madhavdeva was observed at Ujiror Tol Rangajan in Lakhimpur with a two-day long programme on May 29 and May 30 by Madhavdev’s Birth Place Management Committee. State Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma participated in the ‘Dharmalochana Sabha’ of the event as the chief guest. The event was chaired by Bhabndra Nath Deka, the Padadhikar of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha. The minister commemorated the noble contributions of Mahapurush Sankardev and Madhavdev and also elaborated on the ideology of Madhavdev along with his contribution to Assamese literature, culture and new Vaishnavite Movement.

Minister of State for Health, Piyush Hazarika, Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah, MLA Debananda Hazarika, Utpal Borah, and chairman of Deuri Autonomous Council, Bishnu Deury were among those who attended the programme. The minister declared an amount of Rs 5 crore to Sankardev University and Rs. 2 crore to the development of the birth place of Madhavdev. He took part in another programme organized on the same occasion at Letekuphukuri under Bihpuriya LAC. Then he visited the site of Mahavdeva Kalakshetra and took stock of the development of the construction work there. He also inspected the construction works of Lakhimpur Medical College at Saboti in Lakhimpur.
