Kaushik Rai takes charge as district BJP president

Silchar, May 31: The newly elected Cachar district BJP president, Kaushik Rai has urged upon all party members and workers to unite and work together. The 43 year old Kaushik Rai who will serve the party as president for the second time, was addressing a mass meeting held at a packed District Library auditorium of this town on Wednesday. He also took charge from the 73 year old outgoing president Uday Shankar Goswami. Kaushik stressed equally on the importance of 2019 elections and Panchayat elections. He said that it is high time that the party should pull up its socks.

“Our mission, prime focus should be on 2019 elections. Let us march forward and make our campaign a successful one. I am hopeful that the party will make it big in the coming elections. Every booth for Panchayat elections is important. We have to be more disciplined and well organized. BJP will work as a team for the progress and development of the nation. The district committee which will be soon formed comprise both old, experienced persons and young and energetic ones,” said the newly elected Cachar BJP president. He served as Cachar BJP president from November 2012 to December 2015.

Uday Shankar Goswami said that he would till serve and work for the party. More than 1200 workers, leaders, MLAs, ward commissioners and party workers at various levels gathered to welcome the new district president. Among others present at the meeting included former Union Minister Kabindra Purkayastha and others.
