Manash Pratim and Jyotirmoy of Lakhimpur among HS exam toppers

LAKHIMPUR, May 31: Keeping the glory of the past years, two brilliant students of Lakhimpur have brought laurels to the district by bagging the 9th position in Arts stream and 10th position in the Science stream in the HS final exam. They are Manas Pratim Saikia of Dikrong National Junior College, Bihpuriya and Jyotirmoy Dutta of North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous). Manas Pratim secured the 9th position in Arts stream while Jyotirmoy secured 10th position in the Science stream shining the district.

Manas Pratim secured a grand total of 477, with 90 marks in English, 95 in Alternative English, 96 in Sociology, 99 in Political Science and 94 in Economics. His pass percentage is 95.4 per cent. He is the only son of Suren Saikia and Gitamoni Saikia of Amguri village under Bihpuriya Revenue Circle. He will study English as major subject in Tezpur University and gave the credit of his success to his parents and teachers. A student of North Lakhimpur College, Jyotirmoy Dutta, who stood third in the State in the HSLC exam in 2016, secured 92 marks in English, 98 in Assamese, 95 in Biology, 93 in Physics, 93 in Chemistry and 90 in Mathematics with an aggregate of 471(94.2 per cent). He is the son of Ashananda Dutta, a teacher of Bihpuriya Udwastu High School, and Sarita Dutta. Jyotirmoy said that he did not hope to achieve a place in the toppers’ list due to the leakage of question paper which affected the psychology of sincere and honest students. He wants to be a doctor and has already appeared in the medical entrance test. On the other hand, Ayesha Begum of the same college also bagged the highest marks in the State in the subject of Home Science.
