KOKRAJHAR, June 12: A candlelight rally expressing solidarity with the two youths who were brutally killed at Dokmoka in Karbi Anglong on June 8, was taken out by the All Assam Nath Yogi Students’ Union and Artistes’ Association, Kokrajhar on Tuesday evening at Balajan Tiniali and Pragati Bhavan respectively. A good number of people, irrespective of caste, creed and religion, took part in the candlelight rally in both the programmes. On Monday evening, the Bodoland Students’ Union also took out a candlelight rally in the premises of BU.

Meanwhile, the working president of Bodoland Janajati Suraksa Mancha, (BJSM) DD Narzary also strongly condemned the barbaric killing of two youths in Karbi Anglong and demanded stringent punishment for the culprits as per law. He said the lynching of two youths happened based on the rumour about child lifters which was circulated on social media. He called upon people to exercise restraint and appealed to all sections not to communalize the issue as a particular community was not involved in the incident.

LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district unit of the Jatiya Sanskritik Aikya Mancha expressed concern at the savage lynching of two promising youths, Abhijeet Nath and Nilotpal Das at Dokmoka in Karbi Anglong district.

The members of the organization lit earthen lamps at Bormuriya Tiniali of North Lakhimpur town on Tuesday evening, praying for eternal peace of the departed souls. They demanded the government to ensure stern action and strict punishment to the criminals involved in the crime. Several eminent citizens of the district participated in the event and the gathering vowed to fight against the anti-social elements that were capable of destroying humanity.
