Need to educate children to prevent child labour emphasized

Tezpur, June 12: On the occasion of World Day against Child Labour, a rally was organized by District Legal Services Authority, Sonitpur, in association with Ferrando Domestic Workers Alliance with an aim to raise awareness against child labour. After the rally, a meeting was conducted at the premises of the DLSA, Sonitpur. The programme was inaugurated by MC Bordoloi, secretary of DLSA, Sonitpur, in the presence of resource person of DLSA, Sonitpur, Dip Kumar Kalita, Chandika Singha, programme coordinator of Ferrando Domestic Workers, and others.

MC Bordoloi emphasized the need to educate children to prevent child labour. Earlier, Chandika Singha outlined the objective of the meeting while Nayanmoni Goswami highlighted the salient features of the Child Labor Prohibition and Regulation Act, 2016 and advocate Abha Bora also spoke on the role of Child Welfare Committees in giving a life of care and dignity to the child labourers.
