Awareness drive against rumours, superstition

GOHPUR, June 13: Awareness drives and intensive announcements against rumours, superstitions and witch hunting were started recently by the civil administration of Gohpur in collaboration with Assam Police in various areas of Gohpur subdivision. The civil administration of Gohpur started the drive at Bholaguri Tea Estate on June 6. This was followed by public announcement in various parts of the subdivision implemented on the occasion of Jhumur mela.

SDO civil Dr Indranoshee Das was present in an awareness programme at Gohpur TE which was a part of Jhumur mela. In this programme, she interacted with people and gave answers regarding rumours and superstition which were asked by the local people. On the other hand, interaction and awareness drive was taken up in Nirmala, Brahmajan, Daflagarh and Halem and the tea gardens of Buroi in association with the tea garden management.
