Two Assam Rifles Jawans Killed in Ambush, NSCN (K) claims responsibility

Kohima: In a major ambush by the banned militant organization NSCN (K), two Assam Rifles soldiers were killed and four others injured in Nagaland.

The cadres of the NSCN (K) carried out the ambush near Aboi when the Assam Rifles team was on patrolling duty in the area. A heavy exchange of fire took place between the Assam Rifles personnel and the NSCN (K) that lasted for about 20 minutes.

Ground reports further informed that an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was planned by the NSCN (K) cadres that caused maximum damage. During the firefight, grenades were also hurled at the defense forces. The martyered soldiers have been identified as Havildar Fateh Singh Negi and Sepoy Hungnga Konyak, while four others suffered critical bullet injuries and were airlifted to the military hospital in Jorhat.
