TTDC demands creation of Tuting district

Itanagar, June 19: The demand for creation of one more new district has cropped up with ‘Tuting District Demand Committee’ (TTDC) making a strong pitch for creation of ‘Tuting district’ by bifurcating Tuting sub-division from Upper Siang district, with its temporary headquarters at Tuting.

The Tuting District Demand Committee (TDDC), which was yet to make a formal request to the state government on their demand, had conducted a general body meeting at Tuting recently which, was attended by local leaders, burhas , officers, businessmen and general public. TDDC chairman Nima Sangey stated that the demand for new district for Tuting sub-division is a long cherished dream of the people of Tuting area, which according to him once created would facilitate the much-needed speedy socio-economic development of the people living along the international border.

Spread over the area of 4,210 sq km, Tuting sub-division, located along the China border, has five administrative circles namely, Gelling, Singa, Palling, Megging and Tuting with 50 villages and 1580 households having more than 10,000 populations.

Further claiming that the demand for the separate district was justified, Sangey exuded hope that the state government headed by Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Minister RD, Panchayati Raj and Health & FW Alo Libang, who is also the local MLA, will definitely look into the matter positively for the greater interest of the people of border area.

Among others, TDDC chief advisor Gelling Medo, vice chairmen Moko Umbrey, Oti Osik & Mukut Lonchung and general secretary Allu Duggong also addressed the meeting, a press release informed here today.
