Silchar, June 21: A significant decision taken by Bharat Swabhimaan Trust and Patanjali Yogapeeth, Cachar district unit, on International Yoga Day is to hold a camp on Yoga from June 23 to June 27 in Silchar. From the participants, 40 would be selected and send to Haridwar for participating in the 5 day Yoga camp that would start on July 21 to conclude on July 25. Sharing this information, Sukumar Nath, in-charge, Swabhimaan Trust and Yogapeeth, said the training is part of the Patanjali Swabhimaan Yojyana. Importantly, from the all India level participation at this Yoga camp at Haridwar, 20,000 youths will be selected.

The objective behind this camp is to infuse among the participants the sense of self confidence and the ability to stand on one’s feet and become economically self dependent. The broader perspective of this programme is to propagate and popularize Patanjali products door to door across the country. Even the areas which are uncovered by Patanjali will be brought under the network to ensure that multinational companies, selling their products, mostly based on chemical ingredients, are shown the exit door. Already, the foreign made products of all sorts are feeling the pinch with Patanjali making inroads in almost every household.

Sukumar Nath said this ambitious project is the visionary planning of Baba Ramdev and Balakrishnaji with the sole objective of spreading the message that herbal products are the best way to keep oneself immune from diseases. Moreover, use of herbal products can ensure good health and long life. It is in fact a combination of our ancient tradition and modern way of life with total stress on restraint and regulated style of living. Each youth after successful completion of the 5 day training at Haridwar will be paid a monthly remuneration ranging from Rs.8000 to Rs.15000 which will be subject to further enhancement, depending upon performance and achievement, Sukumar Nath revealed, a budgetary allocation of Rs.2500 crore has been made for this ambitious programme.

The district administration in collaboration with Bharat Swabhimaan Trust and Patanjali Yogapeeth organized the observance of International Yoga Day at India Club indoor stadium here with around 200 participants. Yogic exercises were conducted by Sukumar Nath. The programme began with lighting of the auspicious lamp. In his inaugural speech, Dr S Lakshmanan, IAS, the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, laid down the benefits of performing yogic exercises. It was followed by identical speeches by the guests present on the occasion who included former Union Minister Kabindra Purkayastha, MLA Dilip Kumar Paul, Minister of Fisheries and Excise, Parimal Suklabaidya among others. An important part of the day was the felicitation of young boys and girls who showed excellence in demonstrating their Yogic exercises. They were given certificates and medals.

In their address, the distinguished guests spoke about the significance of the day and the single most achievement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to enlist June 21 as International Yoga Day by the UNO. It is a matter of pride and glory for our country that across the globe in almost all the countries including Islamic nations, Yoga day is observed and the Yogic exercises are practiced by the people of those countries. The day was also enthusiastically observed by the district administration of Karimganj and Hailakandi, besides the units of Swabhimaan Trust and Patanjali Yogapeeth in both urban and rural areas.
