Raj Bhawan observes  International Yoga Day

Guwahati, June 21: “Yoga is for an all round development which connects your body with the soul and therefore I believe everybody should practice yoga to maintain a healthy and a disease free life.” This was said in a communiqué by the Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi while participating at the fourth International Day of Yoga observed at Raj Bhavan this morning.

The Governor while addressing the participants said, “Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition to the global world. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with oneself, the world and the nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help in well being.”

The distinguished personalities attending the event were the first lady of Assam Prem Mukhi, noted film artistes Zerifa Wahid, Pranjal Saikia, Poornima Saikia and Mr Universe Mahadeb Deka. Members from Marwari Yuva Manch, Terapanth Mahila Mandal, Byatikram MASDO, and Confederation of Indian Industries, students of Sports Academy, Directorate of Sports and all other officers and employees and their family members of Raj Bhavan also participated in the yoga camp, the communiqué added.
