GUWAHATI, June22: With the beginning of the much awaited Ambubachi Mela on Friday, the Kamkhya Temple at Nilachal Hill is thronged with lakhs of devotees from across the world. The arrival of the Sadhu, Sannyasi, Vairagi and Nagas; their holy chanting and verses of the religious scripts have started reverberating the visitors in and around the temple premise.

The district administration along with various line agencies has also geared up their security vigil in and around the Mela and in all the designated camps to maintain a hassle-free movement of the visitors. According to Kamrup (M) district administration, around 400 Scouts and Guides, 400 volunteers, 150 temporary security personnel, numbers of NCC personnel and 150 permanenet security personnel of the Kamakhya Temple authority have been engaged in monitoring the security situation so far. The source added that around 200 additional cleaning staff are actively engaged to maintaining proper hygiene. Moreover, 400 CCTV cameras are installed in different strategic locations for better scrutiny and observation of the situation. In collaboration with the district administration, numbers of NGOs are putting their best efforts to serve the visitors clean drinking water, food and medicines by establishing health camps in different points.

The designated camps established in different corners to accommodate the devotees are located at Naharbari, Bohripara, Kamkhya Station, Fancy Bazaar and Pandu.
