APWWS appeals for help for injured jawan

Our Correspondent

Itanagar, June 22: The Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society (APWWS) has urged the state government to extend the required financial assistance to retired SSB jawan Bini Todum, who sustained serious leg injuries during a routine bombing exercise involving an IAF fighter plane at Dollungmukh bombing zone under Kamle district on June 8 last. Todum is currently undergoing medical treatment at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (TRIHMS), Naharlagun.

Even if the IAF had ordered a court of inquiry following the incident, the APWWS, a team of which on Friday visited the injured Todum at the hospital to enquire about his health, further urged the Pema Khandu government to take up the issue with the IAF. The relatives attending on him informed the APWWS team that other than help from individuals, there has been no help from the state government or the IAF.
