Anomaly committee report anomalous: SAKP

GUWAHATI, June 23: The recommendations submitted to Dispur by the Anomaly Committee are anomalous! With such a conviction, the Sadou Axam Karmachari Parishad (SAKP) has demanded of the State Government to form a high-level committee to get the anomalies in the committee’s report corrected so as to do justice to the State Government employees.

Seventh Pay Commission recommendations had been found anomalous, leading to a whole lot of protest from the State Government employees. Yielding to the protests from the employees, Dispur had formed an anomaly committee headed by former Assam Chief Secretary Prabir Kumar Dutta who submitted his report before Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on January 10, 2018. On June 5, State Cabinet took the decision to implement the recommendations of the anomaly committee with effective from April 1, 2016.

However, the SAKP is not satisfied with the recommendations made by the anomaly committee as well. They have found a number of suggestions given to the committee by some 200 employees’ organizations of the State were ignored by the committee. Talking to the media on Saturday, SAKP president Bashab Chandra Kalita said: “The State Cabinet has already taken its decision to implement some recommendations of the anomaly committee. However, after the publication of the anomaly committee report on June 21, it has come to light that a number of suggestions made by some 200 employees’ organizations of the State have been ignored. Following a decision taken on June 10, we’ve already sent letters to the Chief Minister and the Finance Minister requesting them for finding solutions to the employees’ suggestions that have been ignored by the anomaly committee, through talks. We want to hold talks with the government on – extending the span of pay band from 1 to 3; making the revised pay effective from January 1, 2016 instead of April 1, 2016; to do away with the system of EB crossing so as to remove the stagnation of salaries at the fag-end of service; the main salary is to be determined through fixation benefits; release of TA and other arrears that were paid to employees before the pay revision; restoration of the rate of house rents as they were earlier; implementation of the free health scheme for government employees; increment of salaries and other benefits of casual, fixed pay and muster roll employees; making arrangement of GPF for employees falling under the pension scheme; increment of salaries for contractual teachers and other staff, besides ensuring their job security and the release of arrears.”

The anomaly committee has failed to remove the anomalies of the Seventh Pay Commission and it has washed its hands off by submitting a half-hearted report to the government, Kalita alleged.

SAKP secretary general Fakar Uddin Ahmed was also present at the press meet.
