APIC imposes penalty on executive engineer

Itanagar, June 23: The Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission has imposed a penalty of Rs. 25,000 on West Kameng district Electrical Division Executive Engineer Phurpa Wangyal who, is also the Public Officer (PIO) for deliberately defying the order of the Commission in connection with a case made by appellant Ram Veo and Kullu Bagang.

The commission has directed the PIO to deposit the said penalty amount in favour of the Registrar, Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission (APIC) Itanagar on or before July 24 next, and appear before it on the same day and submit information as sought by the appellant. It further said that it would otherwise invoke section 20 (2) of the Right to Information Act, 2005.

The Commission has also imposed similar penalties on Executive Engineer, WRD, Pasighat Division in East Siang district-cum-PIO, Tamo Jamoh and Upper Subansiri district PWD, Nacho Division Executive Engineer-cum-PIO for deliberately defying the order of the Commission in connection with the case made by appellant Shoney Pertin and case made by appellant LG Nalo respectively.

The APIC has also directed both of them to appear before the Commission on or before July 24, along with information as sought for by the respective appellants, an official release informed here today.
