ASSU felicitates successful students of Santali community

Kokrajhar, June 23: Successful students in the HS and HSLC final examination, 2018, from remote areas of Kokrajhar district belonging to the Santhali community were given a warm felicitation at a programme held at Amguri Don Bosco Vocational training centre in Kokrajhar on Saturday.

The programme was organized by All Santali Students’ Union (ASSU). Around 100 students belonging to the Santhali community passed the HSLC and HS examination in Kokrajhar district this year. Each student was felicitated with phulam gamosa and given certificate and gift items. The students hail from remote and poor families of the Santali community.

Kokrajhar Superintendent of Police Rajen Singh, president of Adivasi Seva Samiti, Boyal Hembrom, president of All Santali Students’ Union, Simon Kisku graced the occasion as guests.

Rajen Singh said the felicitation programme was quite inspirational for the students of the community towards pursuing higher education. He said education had become very competitive and therefore, students must concentrate on qualitative education. Saying education was the key to growth and development, Singh called upon parents and guardians to give more emphasis on education of children.
