Upgrade Eastern Ri Bhoi: Umroi MLA to CM

Shillong, June 24: After the state government recently decided to upgrade Ranikor into a civil sub-division similar demands are cropping up.

On Saturday, Congress legislator from Umroi constituency, George B Lyngdoh submitted a memorandum Chief Minister Conrad Kongkal Sangma demanding a civil sub-division for the Eastern Ri Bhoi region. The Umroi MLA said that time has come that a civil sub division be created in the district to ease the problems faced by the people of Ri Bhoi in general and Eastern Ri Bhoi in particular. He said that after more than 25 years as a district, Ri Bhoi has been growing in leaps and bounds, but there is a lot more to be done to uplift the people.

“One of the measures to mitigate people’s problems is by bringing the administration closer to the citizens,” the Umroi MLA said.

In the memorandum to the Chief Minister, Lyngdoh pointed out that Eastern Ri Bhoi has the necessary infrastructure to be upgraded to a civil sub-division.
