12 districts restrict travel to and from Kamrup (M)

GUWAHATI: Having been tagged as a corona hotspot, as many as 12 districts of the State have imposed restrictions on back and forth journey of people from Kamrup (M). Over 5,000 people in Kamrup (M) have tested corona positive till July 8 from June 24.

The districts that have imposed travel restrictions to and from Kamrup (M) are Nalbari, Barpeta, Darrang, Kokrajhar, South Salmara, Nagaon, Morigaon, Sonitpur, Biswanath, Sivasagar, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia.

In the event of violating this prohibition, they will be dealt with in accordance with the Disaster Management Act.

Apart from these, three of the districts – Sonitpur, Sivasager and Dibrugarh – have made all arrangements for quarantining people going to their districts from Kamrup (M).

A total lockdown has been underway in Kamrup (M) since June 28 to July 12 to break the COVID-19 chain.
