5 vehicles carrying reptiles seized at Jorabat

DIMORIA: Five vehicles transporting wild animals were on Tuesday seized at Jorabat by Jorabat Police and Forest Department officials.

During routine checking, the five vehicles were seized. The police and forest department officials are examining if they had valid papers for transporting wild animals. The vehicles were transporting 84 reptiles of three species from Imphal to the Greens Zoological Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre (GZRRC), Gujarat. The vehicle drivers claimed that they had necessary permission from the Customs department to transport the reptiles. The papers are being examined and verified.
