GUWAHATI: The Asom Rajyik Prathamik Sikshak Sanmilani (ARPSS) has sent a memorandum to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal demanding stringent action against the people who are accused of lynching Debashish Gogoi, on Monday.

Debashish was killed by a mob over an incident of a minor road mishap in Gabharu Parbat area near Mariani in Jorhat District.

The memorandum stated that Debashish Gogoi, a teacher's son, was brutally beaten in front of his father and sister. Demanding CM Sonowal's intervention, the teachers' body stated that the accused should be given a punishment which should set an example for the people not to commit such heinous crimes.

In the memorandum, ARPSS secretary general Ratul Chandra Goswami said that the victim's father, Debojit Gogoi, is the head master of Hindu Gaon Primary School and is a former executive member of the Sanmilani. "It was an inhumane act which will leave a stain in the State's history. It is an unfortunate incident for Assam," said Goswami.

Further, Goswami mentioned that the police have arrested a few accused but most of them are still free. The body demanded the arrest of all the accused at the earliest and present them at the Fast-track court.
