GUWAHATI: The ferry services connecting Guwahati and North Guwahati resumed on Monday as the water level of the Brahmaputra river has been receding. The ferry services were suspended from June 22 in view of the danger level of the Brahmaputra river. The Inland Water Transport Department has resumed the service on Monday with limited passengers by following the COVID-19 protocols.

On Monday, the ferry services resumed at - Guwahati- Rajaduar Ferry Service, Guwahati Madhyam Khanda Ferry Service, Guwahati- North Guwahati Ferry service and Guwahati Kurua Ferry Ghat.

The workers of inland water transport said that they are operating twice in the morning and twice in the evening.

An official engaged in the service said that they will operate by following all the guidelines of COVID-19.

The ferry workers were seen sanitizing the ferries besides checking the temperature of the passengers. Though the services have resumed, there were very less passengers. An official said that they will be carrying only 50 per cent passengers and vehicles will not be allowed.
