Fire causes extensive damage in Guwahati city

GUWAHATI: Property worth several lakhs of rupees were gutted in a massive fire that broke out in the Amrit Nagar Nepali Basti area of Basistha here on Monday.

According to official sources, many houses have been gutted in the fire, the cause of which is yet to be ascertained. However, it is suspected that several LPG cylinder burst as a result of the inferno.

Firefighters later doused the flames with the help of local residents.

The sources said that there is no report of any casualty in the incident.
