GUWAHATI: Keerthi Jalli, Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup, on Monday ceremonially inaugurated the District Public Health Laboratory at the Tularam Bafna Civil Hospital (TRBCH).

The laboratory will provide prompt investigation of JE, dengue, hepatitis -A, hepatitis-B, hepatitis-C, hepatitis-E, leptospirosis, scrub typhus and a few microbiology culture tests as well. Inaugurating the services of the laboratory, Jalli expressed her satisfaction on opening of DPHL in the Kamrup district. It will provide free laboratory test services to the people and thereby enhance the services of the Civil Hospital, the Deputy Commissioner said.

Prior to the opening of this laboratory, the samples had to be sent to the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for investigation and patients had to wait for two-three days for the results. Now they can get the result within a few hours. The Deputy Commissioner also discussed various issues of the hospital with the officials of the TRBCH.

The inauguration programme was attended by Dr Gopa Nag Baruah, Joint Director of Health Services, Kamrup, Dr Mahitosh Banerjee, SW Superintendent, TRBCH and other officials of the hospital.
