GUWAHATI: In the true spirit of a good Samaritan, Assistant Commandant of C/240 (M) CRPF Veena Kumari took a nine-year-old boy who had one of his legs plastered to the GMCH (Gauhati Medical College and Hospital) for treatment.

On her way to duty at Bharalumukh in the city on Monday, the CRPF officer saw a man at Khanapara giving his son a piggyback. The son had a leg plastered. Asking the man, she came to know that the man was taking the boy to the hospital. The man got no ambulance, nor could he afford to hire a car.

Soon she gave the man and his son a lift and took them to the hospital in her vehicle. The current corona scare didn't make the lady CRPF officer to stay away from helping the father-son duo.

When asked by The Sentinel, Veena Kumari said, "I was on my duty of deployment checking. I noticed a man moving on foot carrying a child while I was about to cross Khanapara towards Six Mile. I stopped my car and asked them where they were heading for. The man told me that they've come from Khanapara hill and they've to go to the hospital. Their plight made me to take them to the hospital."
