GUWAHATI: Former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has termed Prime Minister Narendra Modi–led government's decision to inquire into Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi Foundations is nothing but a political vendetta in the extreme form.

In a statement issued to the press on Thursday, Gogoi said, "It is a diversionary tactics to cover up their failure in providing jobs, making Indian economy complete mess whereby crores of people have lost jobs and livelihoods, check the prices of commodities, unchecked growth of corona due to whimsical unplanned decision. Even on the front of Chinese aggression in Galowan valley, the government has failed to deal with the situation to check the Chinese incursion.

"Moreover, in dealing with neighbouring countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives etc of diplomacy has not yielded any positive result. It may be mentioned that the RSS, Vivekananda Foundation, India Foundation and Overseas friends of BJP also received funds from foreign agencies. It is known that Indira and Rajiv Gandhi foundations have been rendering services for the welfare of the common people of the Country."
