Mariani lynching: All Adivasi Students' Association of Assam demands high-level probe

GUWAHATI: The All Adivasi Students' Association of Assam (AASAA) has expressed grave concern over the Gabharu Parbat lynching incident near Mariani in Jorhat district of Assam. Condemning the incident as unfortunate, the Adivasi students' body called for an enquiry into the causes leading to the incident and stringent punishment to the culprits who were involved.

In a press release to the media, AASAA president Stephen Lakra and general secretary Deben Urang condemned the incident as very unfortunate and called for a high level enquiry, while demanding immediate arrest of all involved in the heinous crime. Expressing solidarity with the family of the deceased Debashis Gogoi and the injured Aditya Das, AASAA stated that the entire community was saddened by the incident and called for restraint from all quarters.
