Minister Atul Bora assures help to MSME Export Promotion Council

GUWAHATI: MSME Export Promotion Council (EPC) and BillMart Fintech, a knowledge firm, have announced that during the current financial year 100 start-ups in the agro-based sector and the most competitive timely credit shall be facilitated to 10,000 units among the existing 67,000 MSMEs in the State.

According to a press release, this was stated by MSME EPC chairman Dr DS Rawat and Jigish Sonagara at a meeting on Thursday with Assam's Agriculture, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry Atul Bora.

Welcoming the initiatives taken by MSME EPC and Billmart, Bora said that the two organizations should also undertake on-ground survey and establish integrated 'incubator centres' with marketing arrangements. The minister invited the two organizations for an interaction with the officials concerned and assured full support of the State Government.

The minister said, "We are happy to note from the report that our Government's various initiatives for bringing investment and generating employment in Assam has already started showing positive numbers. We will evaluate various initiatives by MSME EPC and BillMart and the Government shall take necessary steps to empower the State's MSMEs for finance, technology, knowledge and more business".

As a follow up of the on-going study on 'North East - A Paradise for Tourism', the two organizations will hold Invest Tourism Mart in Assam, Shillong, other Northeastern States and country's metro cities.

Dr Rawat said in a statement that in the proposed Invest Tourism Mart, investors from BIMSTEC and ASEAN countries will participate and economic counsellors from various countries will be also invited to the event.

Jigish Sonagara informed the Minister that keeping in view the tremendous opportunities for the growth of MSMEs in Assam, BillMart has decided to conduct entrepreneurial skill development workshops and generate awareness about the use of technologies for the growth of their businesses, along with the MSME EPC and with the support of the State Government.

Dr Rawat said the office bearers of the Buying Agents Association and Agriculture Rural Marketing Research Foundation will be present during the meeting.
