Bongaigaon, Dec 4: The fifth death anniversary of Kamata Rat Ambika Charan Choudhury was observed on Sunday with a day-long programme in Bongaigaon.
The programme was observed in Ratpeeth field and was organized by Koch-Rajbongshi Jatiya Sanskritik Prakalpa. Dr Rupanjali Devi from the organizing committee said that lighting of lamp and floral tribute was paid by Kulada Choudhury, wife of Ambika Charan Choudhury. “This was followed by several programmes, including Bhagawat Path by Sarat Baruah, am and open meeting. Three successful students were given the Kamata Rat Ambika Charan Choudhury Memorial Award. A souvenir was released by Dr Dwijen Bhakat, president of Koch-Rajbongshi Sahitya Sabha,” she said.
Addressing the gthering in the open meeting, Dr Dwijen Bhakat said that Ambika CHaran Choudhury was the father of Koch- Rajbongshi literature and culture. “He had written many books and articles on Koch- Rajbongshi culture. He was the man who first wrote the Koch- Rajbongshi dictiory. His death was a big loss to the Koch- Rajbongshi community,” he said.
Several noted persons including Dr Labanya Bhakat, renowned writer and lecturer, Tarinikanta Ray, retired Principal of Ratpeeth College, Lakhi Kanta Ray, retired Principal of Birjhora Higher Secondary School and many others were present in this meeting.
