Aranyak Saikia from Assam bags 59th rank in UPSC Civil Services 2019

Guwahati: At least 4 youths hailing from the Northeastern State of Assam, have brought laurels to the state by cracking the UPSC Civil Services 2019, the results of which were declared earlier today.

Aranyak Saikia, who secured the 59th position, has emerged as the topper from Assam in the UPSC Civil Services 2019. Nivedita Dutta hailing from Jorhat has bagged the 697th position while Tapan Deka and Kishore Sutradhar have bagged the 766th and 784th positions respectively.

Aranyak Saikia, who is the son of former Assam Director General of Police (DGP) Kuladhar Saikia, had tasted success in this exam, touted as one of the toughest in the state, earlier also. The 25-year-old is currently serving as an IPS officer in the Karnataka cadre. Last year, Saikia, who hails from Guwahati city, had stood 148th in the highly competitive examinations.

The precocious youth did his schooling till the 12th standard from Don Bosco School in Guwahati. Saikia completed his graduation from St. Stephen's College in Delhi in the year 2015. He later did his master's from the prestigious Delhi School of Economics.

Amid mounting anticipation, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has finally revealed the names of the candidates who have successfully cleared the UPSC Civil Services 2019. Pradeep Singh has emerged as the topper in the Civil Services Exams 2019. Jatin Kishore and Pratibha Verma have been ranked 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Himanshu Jain has received the fourth rank, while Jaydev C S stood fifth. Visakha Yadav ranked 6th, Ganesh Kumar Baskar stood 7th, Abhishek Saraf stood 8th, Ravi Jain stood 9th, while Sanjita Mohapatra stood 10th.

This list has been released today, in order of merit, for the candidates who cleared the exams. The written part of the Civil Services examination 2019 was held by the UPSC in September of last year and the interviews for the Personality Test were conducted in February-August of this year. The list of candidates has been recommended for appointment to the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, the Indian Police Service, and the Central Services Group 'A' and Group 'B'.
