NAGAON: Prominent photographer and journalist Asim Kundu passed away on Thursday night at his residence in Jyotinagar on Thursday night. He was undergoing treatment for high blood pressure for a long time. He was 61.

Kundu was the president of the Nagaon Photographers' Association. He was also a photographer for the magazine Bismoi. He was the still photographer of all the films of filmmaker Arup Manna. He was also a senior photo journalist for a local news channel. He had a studio called 'Real Photo Image' in Nagaon town. The death of Ashim Kundu has cast a pall of gloom across Nagaon.

State Health Minister Keshab Mahanta, Public Relations Minister Pijush Hazarika, and Nagaon Sadar constituency MLA Rupak Sharma expressed deep grief and condolences to the bereaved family. Nagaon Press Club president Jadav Saikia, secretary Ajit Saikia, Nagaon District Sports Journalist Association secretary Ashim Bhawal and Nagaon Sports Association also condoled the demise of Kundu.
