BONGAIGAON: Raising several issues, Bongaigaon Chambers of Commerce submitted a memorandum to the Bongaigaon Deputy Commissioner on Wednesday.

The Chambers of Commerce opposed some 'unparliamentarily' decisions taken by Bongaigaon district administration regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. Dhiraj Chakraborty and Nirmal Baid, secretary and president of Bongaigaon Chambers of Commerce, said that due to the lockdown, the business community had been badly affected.

"In Bongaigaon also we have suffered much. This happened only because the government has no fixed policy for COVID-19. Bongaigaon district administration had issued several orders with regard to the COVID-19 pandemic which affected business in Bongaigaon. Recently, one order was issued by the district administration in which several wards of the town were declared as containment zone and the order further stated that until every person from that area got themselves tested and the test results came negative, the area would remain as containment zone. We demand that test results should be declared within 72 hours of testing. If a person tests negative, he should be allowed to open his shop or business establishment," they said. They added that in this critical economic situation, the administration should try to develop the economy of an area.
