Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Visits Kamakhya Mandir after Inaugrating Strategically Vital Kimin-Potin Road

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who has been on an official tour to Assam and Arunachal Pradesh since yesterday, visited the Shaktipeeth Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati this morning and sought blessings from the goddesses.

During his visit, the Defence Minister inaugurated seven roads in Arunachal Pradesh constructed by the Border Road Organisation on Thursday (BRO).

Among the new roads, new highways links between Kimin-Potin in the state is strategically important considering the state's borders with China. Following the ceremonial event, Defence Minister Singh arrived in Assam and paid a visit to the temple. During the temple visit, he was joined by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Border Road Organisation (BRO) has been playing a pivotal role in constructing & maintaining operational road infrastructure for armed forces in difficult, far-flung border areas. The 20 km Kimin-Potin road is yet another marvel by Border Road Organisation towards facilitating connectivity, added CM Sarma. 

In Guwahati's Sarusajai stadium, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently inaugurated the first-ever DRDO (Defense Research and Development Organization) funded 300-bed Covid hospital. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister described the opening of the new COVID care hospital as a turning point in the battle against COVID-19.

According to the Chief Minister, it is a wonderful example of Centre-State collaboration and the collective spirit of the Assam Government and the people of the State. The new hospital was developed in collaboration with the DRDO and the Government of India at a cost of Rs 21.46 crore. The hospital will have a five-year lifetime that may be extended with a minimal infrastructural upgrade.
