Himanta Biswa Sarma Announces Projects Worth Rs 425.75 Cr in Biswanath

BISWANATH CHARIALI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today visited the Biswanath district of the state and announced the start of several new projects and the upgradation of several existing ones in the district under the ongoing Fortnite for Development in the state.

Speaking on the occasion the Assam chief minister mentioned the rich heritage and business connection of the region since ancient times. He also mentioned about the mention of the Biswanath Temple in several religious texts before announcing the upcoming projects.

As a part of the development of the district, all the important offices will be brought into one single complex. This will be completed in two phases, wherein the first phase will see the establishment of a new DC office along with its allied offices while the second phase will see the transfer of the offices of health, education and other necessary departments to the same complex. A state-of-the-art guest house will also be constructed alongside this new DC office complex.

In order to protect the Pabhoi Forest of the district, one of the five new proposed commando battalions will be posted in the region.

The Sootea Polytechnic will be upgraded to a centre of excellence in the district with support from the Tata Group. A sports facility will also be created in the Bihali region of the district to empower local youth.

Mentioning that this will be remembered as a day of development of the district, Himata Biswa Sarma said that this is the first time anyone is working towards that goal. He added that all the proposed projects will be completed within the next three years and the public will be able to enjoy the benefits within the tenure of the current government.

He also announced that 24000 women from the district will be added as beneficiaries of the Arunudoi Scheme and 20000 families will be given ration cards.

Himanta Biswa Sarma also announced a new project by the state government. When activated, each family member whose name is mentioned in a ration card issued by his government will be entitled to health insurance of up to Rs 5 lakh which will be available in government hospitals across the state.
