Guwahati: News of a lioness and a tigress giving birth to cubs amid the coronavirus crisis filled animal lovers of the Assam with pride and glee.

As per reports, a lioness has given birth to one baby cub and a tigress gave birth to two tiger cubs in the Assam state zoo in Guwahati amid the ongoing pandemic.

Parimal Suklabaidya, Assam Minister of  Forest & Environment and Fisheries shared this information through his official twitter handle. " Glad to share with you all that our lioness and tigress have given birth to one lion cub and two tiger cubs at @assamzoo during the lockdown period", the tweet sent out from the minister's official handle read.

The Minister also shared pictures of the adorable cubs with their respective mothers!

The minister also added that the Zoo family has named the lion cub as 'Simba' after the popular protagonist from the Disney blockbuster 'The Lion King.'

Certainly, something to cheer about amidst the gloom of the lockdown, isn't it?
