Literary and cultural award to Surath Narzary & Arun Narzary

KOKRAJHAR: Like the previous years, the BTC administration has decided to confer the prestigious Promod Chandra Brahma Literary Award, 2021 to noted writer and SahityaAkademi award winner as well as retired Principal of Kokrajhar Government College, SurathNarzary and the JwhwlaoNileswar Brahma Cultural Award, 2021 to renowned singer ArunNarzary respectively.

Noted writer and educationist SurathNarzary has many books to his credit and has made a significant contribution to society, while renowned singer ArunNarzary, who was also the president of DularaiBoroHarimuAfad (DBHA), a cultural organization of the Bodos, came to the limelight soon after the release of the first Bodo feature film Alayaron (The Dawn), directed by JwngdaoBodosa in 1986. Narzary was the male singer in the national award winning film Alayaron.

The awards will be conferred on them during the closing ceremony of the celebration of 1st BTR Accord Day to be held at Ambagaon Higher Secondary School playground in Udalguri on January 27 where State Finance Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma will be the chief guest. The awards will carry a citation, memento and Rs 2 lakh each.
