NAMRUP: As an outcome of the agitation against the failure of the government to set up the Namrup IV plant, the Namrup Anchalik Chatra Santha (NACS) stated a protest on Friday demanding immediate setting up of Namrup IV plant. The NACS activists got their heads tonsured and burnt effigies. The existing units of BVFCL have been suffering from frequent shutdowns and accidents, posing a threat to this lone fertilizer industry in Northeast India. Besides, the future of Namrup also depends on this industry as the livelihood of a large of number of people are directly or indirectly associated with BVFCL.
