Residents under Naharkatia Municipality to submit their house measurements

NAHARKATIA: The Naharkatia Municipality has taken a measure with the approval of the Committee constituted under Section 79A(5) of the Assam Municipal Amendment Act, 2011 and for the purpose of classification of property (holding) under Section 79A(2).

The residents of the 10 wards of the Naharkatiya municipality will voluntarily measure their houses, living rooms and bedrooms etc. from August 10 to September 10, the Naharkatiya municipality executive officer as well as Circle Officer of Naharkatia, Sharat Gogoi said in a press conference held at the municipality office on Tuesday.

The measurements of the entire house should be submitted to the municipal office in a prescribed form and the forms can be collected from the municipal office or ward members by the residents of the municipality. This process will be completely free of cost. After the submission of applications between August 10 and September 10, a separate committee will be formed for the 10 wards of Naharkatiya municipality to review the applications between September 10 and November 15.

The Municipality will then publish a draft report on November 20. Citizens of the municipal area can submit their claims and objections between November 20 and December 20 from the date of publication of this draft. Once this process is concluded, the municipality will publish its final draft on December 31 with corrections, if any. Two online portals will also be launched from tomorrow, the Circle Officer said. Citizens are required to submit these forms by online or offline within September 10. The Naharkatia Municipality will also set up information centres in the wards, Sharat Gogoi said.
