Udalguri Police recovers cache of arms & ammunition in Mangaldai

MANGALDAI: The evil design of the organized armed gang of anti-social elements to create unrest in the BTAD during the Council election has been thwarted by Udalguri Police following the successful recovery of a cache of sophisticated arms and ammunition in two separate operations. On Sunday early hours at 4 am, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Bhergaon Nirmal Ghosh accompanied by Officer in Charge of Harisinga Police Station Sub-Inspector Premangkur Hazarika acting on a tip off, conducted a search operation in Amjuli area along the Indo-Bhutan border. In the operation the police team recovered two AK 47 rifles, three magazines and 71 rounds of live ammunition of 7.62 mm which were concealed underground in a plastic bag near the bank of river Dumbri at Amjuli No. 4 under Harisinga Police Station.

In the other incident of recovery, a team of Udalguri Police in the last.mid night at around 12.30 am conducted a search operation at village Singrijhora under Udalguri Police Station and recovered one M 20 pistol with magazine and eight rounds of live ammunition, one 9 mm pistol with magazine and two rounds of live ammunition which were concealed underground in a plastic bag in an abandoned field. Deputy Superintendent of Police (HQ) Moidul Islam led the the police team to the recovery with assistance from Officer in Charge of Udalguri Police Station Inspector Narayan Patangia.
