AHMEDABAD: Two heroic knocks from Riyan Parag and Rishav Das helped Assam to beat Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) by 7 wickets in the 3rd quarter-final and stormed into the semi-final in the Vijay Hazare Cricket at Gujarat College Cricket Ground 'A' today.

While Riyan slammed a whirlwind 174 off 116 deliveries Rishav took 118 balls to play an unbeaten knock of 114.

In a high-scoring quarter-final J&K batters Shubham Khajuria and Henan Nazir hit centuries to take the side to a massive total of 350/7 in 50 overs against a hapless Assam bowling attack.

Chasing 351 runs to win, Assam once struggled and lost both the openers within 45 runs. But once Riyan and Rishv took the centre stage J&K were nowhere in the game. Parag literally toyed with J&K bowling attack, hitting 12 sixes and as many boundaries at a strike-rate of exactly 150 to get his third century of the tournament. It was Parag's career-best innings in the competition.

He got good support from seasoned batter Rihav Das who was not out on 114 off 118 balls, laced with 11 fours and a six. The duo also involved in a record 277-run stand for the third wicket.

In the semi final Assam will now face Maharashtra who defeated Uttar Pradesh by 58 runs courtesy to a record breaking knock from Ruturaj Gaikwad. The batter scored a brilliant double century (220 no) in the match and also hit seven over boundaries in an over. Brief scores: Jammu & Kashmir 350/7 in 50 overs (Henan Nazir 124, Shubham Khajuria 120; Avinav Choudhury 2/47, Rajjakuddin Ahmed 2/58) lost to Assam 354/3 in 46.1 overs (Riyan Parag 174, Rishav Das 114 not out; Auqib Nabi 1/44, Mujtaba Yousuf 1/56) by seven wickets
