Guwahati: The ruling Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has won all the 51-member Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC).

The saffron party registered a clean sweep in 11 civic bodies including Khowai (8 seats), Kumuraghat (15 seats), Amarpur (13 seats), Dharamnagar (24 seats), Teliamura (15 seats), Jirania (11 seats), Melaghar (13 seats), Sonamura (13 seats), Belonia (17 seats), Sabroom (9 seats) and AMC (51 seats).

Taking to the Micro-blogging site twitter, the Assam Chief Minister said, ''A huge congratulations to Hon'ble Tripura CM Shri @BjpBiplab & @BJP4Tripura for the party's clean sweep of the civic body polls, winning 217 out of the total 222 seats. It's another testimony to popular support for the visionary leadership of Adarniya PM Shri @narendramodi ji''.

BJP had fielded its candidates in all the seats. BJP has already won 112 of the total 334 seats unopposed. Voting was done for a total of 222 seats in the rest of the Municipal Corporation and Nagar Panchayat elections.

The BJP won a total of 217 seats while on the other hand, the CPI (M) contended themselves with 3 seats, followed by TMC and TIPRA Motha (each bagging just 1 seat).

Out of 334 seats in the election, the saffron party grabbed 329 seats.
