GUWAHATI: The Directorate of Higher Education (DHE), Assam, has reconstituted the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) for addressing cases of sexual harassment at the workplace with AES Chinmoyee Talukdar,
Deputy Director of Higher Education as the presiding officer; AES Sumitra Dev, Deputy Director of Higher Education, Financial Adviser of DHE Nayan Mani Sharma, DHE Superintendent Chilarai Goyari, and senior assistant DHE Lily Bhuyan, senior assistant DHE Monika Thakuria as members, and Psychologist (SFBT) Semim Akhtar Hussain as an external member.
The DHE formed the committee in accordance with the provisions of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redress) Act, 2013.
The responsibilities of the ICC include receiving and addressing complaints of sexual harassment from employees, conducting inquiries and investigations in a fair and impartial manner, taking appropriate actions to redress complaints and prevent the recurrence of sexual harassment, ensuring confidentiality and privacy throughout the complaint resolution process, and maintaining records of complaints and their resolutions.
The Directorate encouraged all employees to familiarise themselves with the policy on prevention and redressal of sexual harassment, which outlines the procedure for filing complaints and the support mechanisms available.
