RANGIA: Sasastra Seema Bal (SSB ) 24 Bn added another feather in their cap as Director General SSB has adjudged 24th Bn SSB as Runner Up in terms of operational achievement whereas 50th Bn SSB was declared as Best Operational Bn for the year 2020-21.
The 24th Bn SSB Rangia was also declared as Best Operational Bn under Guwahati Frontier earlier this year. During the year 2020-21, 24th Bn SSB Rangia conducted many high-value operations in core area, especially anti-human trafficking, arms, narcotics and in the rescue of wildlife and forest products. Overall, the Unit has rescued 62 poor villagers of Indo-Bhutan border area, including 28 females, 10 minor girls, 4 minor boys and an infant from the vicious circle of human traffickers whereas it has also rescued Golden Gecko Tokay (Lizard), Flying Squirrel, Great Indian Hornbill, Ivory Elephant Tusk from the clutches of poachers. It has also nabbed 38 persons, which led to the recovery of 36.445 kg marijuana (ganja) and 120 bottles IMF liquor.
On this occasion, Hrishikesh Sharma, Commandant 24th Bn SSB, Rangia lauded the role of all the officers and officials of 24th Bn SSB to make it the best in the whole region.
