Tezpur gears up for I-Day and district day celebrations with preparatory meeting

TEZPUR: A preparatory meeting to discuss the arrangements for the upcoming District Day on August 3 and the 79th Independence Day on August 15 was held at the Conference Hall of the District Commissioner’s Office in Sonitpur. The meeting was chaired by District Commissioner Ankur Bharali.

Welcoming the participants, DC Bharali highlighted the significance of observing both events with due honour and grandeur. He stressed the need for meticulous planning and inter-departmental coordination to ensure the successful execution of the celebrations.

Comprehensive discussions were held regarding the Independence Day programme, covering key areas such as security arrangements, flag hoisting protocols, illumination and decoration of venues, parade rehearsals by various contingents, provision of drinking water, cultural performances, prize distribution, and refreshments.

The DC directed all Heads of Departments to ensure the National Flag is hoisted in their respective offices as per protocol, in the presence of all officers and staff. He also emphasized the importance of properly conducting the flag retreat ceremony. Additionally, he instructed that similar preparatory meetings be held at the Co-District levels in Dhekiajuli, Naduar, and the soon-to-be operational Barchalla and Rangapara Co-Districts.

Senior Superintendent of Police Barun Purkayastha briefed the attendees on security arrangements for both events, ensuring safety and smooth execution.

Discussions also included preparations for a vibrant celebration of District Day. DC Bharali urged all officials and stakeholders to work collectively in formulating a befitting plan for the occasion. He expressed confidence that effective coordination among departments and community participation will lead to successful celebrations.

The meeting was attended by District Development Commissioner Lakhinandan Saharia, CEO of Sonitpur Zilla Parishad Karabi Saikia Karan, Additional District Commissioners, civil and police administration officials, Heads of Departments, representatives of uniformed forces, and other prominent citizens of the district.
