On Sunday, January 5, 2025, the state government announced the recipients of the Silpi Award 2025 as well as three other state awards: the Nat Surya Phani Sharma Award 2024, the Sahityacharjya Atul Chandra Hazarika Award, and the Bhimbor Deori Awards.
Bimal Borah, state Minister of Cultural Affairs, made the announcement. He stated that the state government has decided to confer this year's Silpi Award on Anima Choudhury and folk singer Mukul Rabha.
Borah also stated that the Nat Surya Phani Sharma Award 2024 will be conferred on actress Reba Phukan, the Sahityacharjya Atul Chandra Hazarika Award on actress Hira Neog, and the Bhimbor Deori Award on renowned social worker Jaleswar Brahma.
Each recipient of the awards will receive Rs 2 lakh, a citation, and an Anga Bastra.
The Minister stated that all four awards will be presented on January 17 at the Silpi Diwas celebration in Golaghat, which commemorates the death of Jyoti Prasad Agarwala, the doyen of Assamese cinema.
